Precision casting, based on the wax melting principle, is the method for those with high demands on surface finish and tolerances. The process, in which a wax mold is covered with Zircon sand which is then hardened while the wax melts away, allows for complex geometries with minimal post-machining. The major advantages are an exceptionally fine surface, the ability to hold tight tolerances and a very low tooling cost, making the method ideal for small series.
